ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects people of all ages and intelligence levels. And it's a treatable condition.

What does it mean to be on a "psych med"? Is it Hakuna Matata in pill form, or a cover-up of the deeper emotional issues that need address? (Hint: It's neither). I find that understanding my patient's worries and goals about being prescribed a medication is critical to helping them achieve wellness.

I realized that in order for better psychiatric care to happen, there needed to be a system in place that supports better psychiatric care. One that rewards quality over quantity, incentivizes the clinician to provide more support between visits, and encourages patients and doctors to collaborate and explore complicated psychiatric concerns in detail.

For better or for worse, much of my inspiration comes from my personal experience and listening to the experiences of other ADHDers when trying to access care. The problem is that it takes A LOT of organization and follow through to get proper treatment for ADHD, which is incredibly ironic when you think about it. So, I wanted to make A+ Psychiatry to be a role model of what an ADHD-friendly practice can be.
