About Dr. Levy
Dr. Jess Levy is board certified in both child and adolescent psychiatry and general psychiatry.
He is honored to have the opportunity to practice psychiatry. He has treated thousands of patients of all ages and from all walks of life. He believes that the doctor-patient relationship is the basis for good psychiatric care and designed A+ Psychiatry with the intent of removing barriers to the doctor-patient relationship. Such barriers include the fee-for-service model which incentivizes providers for “doing more” without necessarily doing what’s in the best interest of the patient. He believes that good psychiatric care happens when the patient and doctor collaborate to help the patient meet their goals.
Dr. Levy also values the humanistic aspects of medicines. He believes that we are all authors in our life story, creating the narrative as we go along. As a physician, Dr. Levy’s job is to understand the patient’s story, and help the story get back on track when things go wrong. As a psychiatrist this means integrating biological, psychological, and social aspects into their treatment plan.
Dr. Levy’s passion for providing good outpatient care stems from his own personal experience as a patient. He was diagnosed with ADHD as a teenager. He appreciates the frustrations that come from interacting with busy providers and those with biases. He also realizes that people with ADHD have unique gifts that when properly channeled can lead to great things.
Dr. Levy prides himself on being quirky, thoughtful and great with kids. As a technology enthusiast (aka “nerd”) he enjoys exploring new tools and seeing how they can be used to improve patient care. Although he takes psychiatry seriously, he finds laughter to be a great medicine.
Dr. Levy graduated from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2011. He attended general psychiatry residency at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana, and then University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, for his child psychiatry fellowship. He is licensed to practice medicine in Ohio. He is involved with the American Academy of Child and Adolsecent Psychiatry (AACAP) and is an active committee member on the Health Information Technology Committee. He has written several editorials and has presented at several national conferences. He previously worked at Cleveland Clinic where he was nominated for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Teacher of the Year award in 2018, and 2020. His clinical experience also includes working in a community mental health center. He currently lives in the Cleveland, Ohio area and is actively involved in the community.
Dr. Levy’s unbreakable rules:
Be considerate of others.
Treatment requires a team approach.
Mental health disorders are not a sign of weakness.
When people have the ability to succeed, they WILL succeed!
